Can someone please post the link to the Vanaar Jet and the Quarr jet downloads as models? I've looked but can't seem to find them. I saw the article on Starship Modeler.com and followed it back here, read a bunch of posts, liked what I saw and decided to join.
Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction or telling me what thread / poster the link is located in.

Thanks! I found that archive earlier but I guess I overlooked the Vanaar Jet. I used to visit PS every now and then and was surprised that it went down temporarily. I hope it comes back (yes, I’ve read the appropriate threads regarding the situation). Until then, there are the boards here. I look forward to building some of these models in the next week or so (my first start into this particular hobby).
I've got two custom HW ships that I designed a few years back. If I can build them out of the paper models, I'll show them here and maybe someone can take what I have created and modify the originals to make new models for the forum members. I know it’s not impossible to make new ship models for HW, but at this point (me being a newb at the hobby) it is certainly beyond my capacity and skill at this point in time.
Now if I can just fool around with the Taidan scout (X-wing / twin chin gun). I'd like to enlarge it and build it in 1:72, 1:48 or even 1:35 scale. This forum rocks. I've loved HW ever since it first came out and have been a big fan of Peter Elson since I was a child and first had the TTA books in my collection. Being able to build models of ships that were inspired by his work is a thrill. ;D
Thank you, again, for the link and for this forum. I'll try to contribute what I can to the hobby, to this forum, and to the HW models in particular.

Am I the only one that thinks the original Heavy Cruiser looks more intimidating than the Vanaar Jet? From the photos here, it seems the original has double the weaponry and a more compact profile. But then again, the Vanaar Jet does look pretty sleek.

So far as I understand it the Vanaar Jet is supposed to be more powerful. It looks light partly becuase the hull is larger so the weapons are less concentrated. The Upper and lower Ion cannons are a match for the Qwaar Jet but sleeker and therefore look smaller. But they have a better field of fire. Also the in game shots indicate two recessed cannons in the nose section (not sure if they are meant to be ion cannons though) i92.photobucket.com/albums/l9/TonyG2_2006/VanaarJet09.jpg?t=1178739450

those nose guns in the pic are point defense i think
they look like the ones on the Vagyr battlecruiser
and each turret is twice the power of a Quarr-jet turret since each one has two energy cannons instead of one mass driver
