what about gloss paper, is that sturdy enough to keep the foam from bulging, and will the hair spray work on that

Gloss paper is crazy expensive...I would recommend card paper over that. I'm also not sure what hair spray would do to the glossy cover.

Paper stock that is really shiny on one side, like you would print color photographs on.
The gloss does make the model look better in some ways, brighter colors for example, but photo paper really isn't sturdy enough to make models with unless you laminate it onto cardboard or card stock.
Is card stock available in high gloss? I've never seen it in the store.

I myself use gloss paper and it works just fine for me, but still, the ink is on the outside of the paper...

I agree. Glue sticks work good on that kind of paper. I usually use special gel glue. Doesn't make the cardboard wet like some liquid glues I got in America or here in Germany. To all germans out here: I recommend the gel glue from Pritt. Maybe it's called "Power Pritt Gel" or something.

You creepy European people With exceptions of course. But I've never heard of Pritt...so I'd be out of luck if I used photo paper. Gloss paper seems like it would smear more easily than normal paper...why are you using it?

I don't use glossy paper. I use light card paper, for filecards. sturdy enough for some models.
