One of the best things about it. I REALLY had problems playing Tachyon with a J Stick. Bought a brand new one. Wireless. Multiple buttons. 8 way hat switch. 3 Dimensional etc.
Crap.
Use the joystick... smoothest controls ever.....
And lets face it. What else can be cooler than having Bruce Campell pregnant dog at you for using the cheat codes....
OK. Maybe Mark Hamil et al in Wing Commander.....
Pretty Cool!!!

Now hold on there a mo! Sweepin' statement if I ever saw one... OK Mr indecisive here.... Now in the last few weeks I've been hitting both HMV and E Bay hard for PC games. Syemptoms of buying a new pc (400Gig, 1064 meg DDR ram, 560meg Graphics card......if you recall.... Anyways Just totaled up my present fave games rosta.. Colony Wars (Ps1) - STILL ACE!! still can't finish it...Colony Wars 2 and 3 (PS1)....Naah! Blast Radius (Ps1)....dumb but fun Xenocracy (PS1) Gimme a break.... Wing Co. III (PS1) Gimme MORE.. MORE I SAY!!! so ok the in flight grahics suck - its still superb immersive game and has GREAT ships Wing Co IV (PS1) See above and a better story.... Jedi Starfighter etc (PS2) . Frelling Dren!!! No. No and Again NO!! Sucks the big one... Halo (X Box and PC) - so its not a flight sim. I don't give a frell. Its still beats the competition. Freespace 2 (PC) - Cool. Very VERY cool. Starlancer (PC) - OK I guess. Good story but not as satisfying as tachyon or Freespace. Freelancer (PC) - looks good but haven't played enough to dedide. Tachyon (PC) - crap game..... ;D KIDDING!!!! ITS BRILLIANT........ Just good plain fun. Very little boring career building. Just shoot the bad guys for a bounty and improve your ship. The kill some more. I War 2 - Edge of Chaos - top grahics, realistic physics. hellishly hard. X and X 2 the Threat. Great graphics but SOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOWWWWW! at least on the story side.... Just bought (thanks E Bay) Wing Commander Prophecy, I WAR (the original game) Conflict: Freespace (the Great War) and Wing Co III and IV for PC.... Last TWO were a BIG ASS MISTAKE. I NOW learn that you can't run them on a Windows XP machine.. Buggeration!!!!! So its either 1. Downlaod a questionable DOS emulator .exe programe.... (to a £1500 machine....I don't think so) 2. Buy an old (old old ollllllld) PC that will run th games.... or 3. Keep on with my Old PS1 console games... Oh well, we live and learn Now have I missed anything.... Oh yes. HOMEWORLD... STILL .... .... RULES. But Tachyon, Wing Commander, I War and Freespace are also BRILLIANT.. Said I was indecisive..

i was referring to Tachyon's online Games. funny how i keep mentioning that, and it not sinking in. after all you ARE online, why play single player, when theres a whole group of people already online playing? cmon man give it a try. we wont bite, i promise! be sure to have ecms in yo back pocket tho, lol i am quite the missiler. install the game, update it, fly on in to Base Wars. oh i bet we have the same joystick: Logitech Cordless Freedom 2.4? awesome stick. if you need pointers ill be more than happy to help i have a nice patch that removes that annoying bright sunlight from the game. its called the "Full Setup Patch" and you can download it here: groups.msn.com/GamingPix2/_whatsnew.msnwinterested? let me know. your choice to fly online or not to , i fly just about every night. have fun!

My net connection runs really slow..... can't do more than 46kps. The few on line games I've attempted proved disasterous.
Must get broadband..
Slipster. is there a difference between meshes for the base wars game and the solo player game in tachyon. Its possible the mesh is differenent to make the on line run quicker which might explain the odities with Deep Ex.
Just a thought...

yep. Works fine on Starlncer and I War 2 but with tachyon, I get creamed!!
Switched to the mouse and generally I get on better. Except for making tight turns, then its a problem.
Maybe I ned to tweak the stick sensitivity and deadzone settings a bit more. That worked with Freespace 2
Slipster. What time zone are you in?
Your posts seem to be after midnight my local time. Like I said, weekdays I'm in the office 7.30 til 7.30. So i get mybe a half hour or so at the PC at night when I get home if I'm to (a) eat, (b) build some more ships (c) work on an unfold project and finally (d) get some sleep.....
Thank god for weekends...

Got a joystick but local stores don't stock either X Wing or TIE.
E bay is the only option....

Maybe it's old but it's good. And for x-wingvstiefighter you don't need a joystick! Prices on amazon are odd for me, 39$ for xwingalliance? It's damn much.
