hi, and welcome to the forum. best use is 160 or 180 gr cardboard. check some pic A.I.´s in "showcase" from me and other builders to get a "feeling" how to glue and fold and for "tips and tricks".

:DHi there, indy500lee! First of all: Welcome to this forum! As for the best paper for paper models; there is really no 'golden rule' here; It is all a matter of personal prefference! Heavier paper builds sturdier models, but has it's drawbacks on smaller, and difficult models. I would prefer 120-160 grams paper for large models, but prefer to use 80 grams for (smaller) models. E.g.: My first paper model - an Atlas-Gemini rocket- was printed on normal (80gr.) printer paper, wich worked well. My first HW paper model -the Taiidan Destroyer- was color printed on 120gr. A4 paper (=15cm in size), and caused me some troubles during building, due to paper thickness! I (me, that is) normally use 80gr. paper, wich I find easier to handle/cut/fold, and it's cheap & available anywhere. If one would use light paper on larger (>20cm) models, you could reinforce it from inside with (heavy) card stock. Like this: -Printed on 80gr. & reinforced with heavy card stock (I sometimes scavenge cerial boxes for this use; cheap!)-I'd suggest to experiment with different paper thicknesses on your models if you can; your own experience and prefferences are your best guide! Gee... Thinkin'of it, I build my first paper model about a year ago!

Thank guys, I picked up some 110 weight paper, I am going to start off with some easy stuff first, the Hako figures and then move my way up, I also picked up a cutting board, scissors, knife, and Sharpie fine tip pens. Are there any printers out there, that you guys can suggest, that can print out larger ships?? Thank you!! Lee
