All right. Just in case people missed this in various threads across the forum, I'd like to make a few things clear right here.
Threads going off-topic isn't always a bad thing, as long as the new topic is productive. But one-liners that don't contribute are over the top.
I've decided now that I'm not afraid of ticking you guys off at me. That means I'll be giving out consequences if people keep spamming. I do NOT have time to sift through all your randomness when I check specific threads anymore, and it's becoming a pain to police each updated thread for spam.
People, just because we're small doesn't mean we should be unproductive to the point where people are leaving.

perhaps a 10-20 line shoutbox type thing like at relic boards?
just a thought
ALSO: I know you cannot assighn mods but mabby another mod? some one whos here more often then most who can keep an eye on half the forum. that way hopefully you can spend less time policeing the entire forum yourself due to Es prolonged abscences.
this would also relieve some of your frustration leaving you more time to make non diciplenary posts.
Another also: Dude, Nerath, even the folks at relic boards are more members then police.
I agree that only because were small that we shouldent be spaming ecessivly but we really dont need to have our butts pattled because of a little (ok mabby not so little) spam.
I try to imagine that im holding a conversation with the people on this board as thugh i were speaking to them in person (as bad an idea as that may be) using the avatars as them persons face. to me it makes the forum more enjoyable.
mabby we can work out an anti spam rule set that can be enforced to the point where it is effective, convenient for all members and mods, and dont make people think there being attacked. seriously. your policeing is becomeing just as much spam as what we through out (by definition).
try deleting posts rather then locking entire threads that still have life.
PM me with spam scenarios and we'll talk.

Raven, I honestly did it to show people that I wasn't going to play around when people started calling this place a total waste of their time. That shows me that we're not being a paper starships forum; we're being a randomness forum. I'm not going to throw around suspensions, but the spamming had been annoying me for some time. It's not like I'm going to blow the whistle at every scenario. Deleting posts isn't the way to go, in my opinion, because of how subtle it is. If you delete posts, people generally ignore it. And then they don't see that what they're doing isn't a good idea. They just kind of...forget it. And deleting half a thread would get people even more ticked off. And, if my "policing" ended up being spam, then is there a point to my existence as a mod? You guys wanted me here to tame the spam. You voted me in. If you hadn't wanted a mod, I wouldn't be here. I am a member, Raven. I go off topic occasionally. No one's perfect, and I do know that others aren't as well. I also pretty much knew that once people noticed that I was actually employing real consequences, things would start getting nasty. And they are. So I'll sit back and let this unfold, see what happens. After all, everyone makes mistakes, and perhaps my methods are flawed. Perhaps not. We'll all see. Frankly, a little whistle-blowing never drastically hurt anyone, y'know? I've had the whistle blown at me before. And Xtron, sorry if that seemed a little harsh. I don't mean to bring down the hammer. I just noticed that talking to people doesn't always work. Feel free to say what you want, just not being so random as before. I'm not a power-crazy freak. I just want us to seem like an upstanding forum. I suppose at least my motives are okay, eh? And Glove, before you come in here on a whim to join the other two, just read above. I'm trying to help the forums. Not to mention what Darmat said wasn't anything reassuring -- big forums do scale back on spam. So, as long as we can keep the randomness at least a little on topic, I think we'll be fine. Threads are meant to have a topic, not to all become general conversation threads. If you want a new topic, all you have to do is create a new thread. Old threads can fade out and die. It's okay; it's normal. We don't have to keep old ones alive just for conversation. Those old threads don't have life. Seriously. They reach the point where another thread needs to exist. That's what general discussions threads are for -- general conversation. You wanted a standard for spam? All right, if you guys aren't satisfied with what I'm doing under my own judgment, then you tell me what you think. I'm a democratic kind of person. So let's all be rational here -- and on-topic -- and let me hear what you want.

*Agrees*I have something to get off my chest. Since I became a member,I have caused nothing but trouble. I actually looked back and found out I was the cause of many deleted threads, forum rules being set up ,and getting banned. And because of that I have taken it into consideration to quit Paper starships.
Plus,I have been nothing but a nusiance,Not useful at all, just spamming the forums.
At the beginning I only signed up to ask for, instead of giving, and to have fun conversations.
Here at Paper starships I belive I could have met a friend, Raven, for she has went out of her way to help me. And I will too

Xtron, I'm not trying to help by kicking you out. People can fix things. Okay, so you've admitted that you've spammed. It's not like you came here just to spam, you said it yourself.
So just move on. Now that you've decided to fix it, don't leave, just hang around and fix it. And I'll never have any reason on Earth to chastise you again. You can help me revise my plans of judgment. Every mod or admin or anyone has to start somewhere and occasionally trip up, eh?

you havent embarrassed yourself.
i agree that the thrad needs to be cleaned up a bit but the hammer would ring the bell much better if it were falling at 50 MPH being swung by sampson the strong man rither then dropping it from a B-2 bomber and have it hit us at 100 MPH
I'll once again bring up the sugestions of a second mod and some kind of shout box. mabby that will bring less of a head ache. i can be here when im at school too (gotta love comuter class) so ive got lots of time on my hands to supress spam.
and if you dont like my reasons, smack me down. tell me where you think i'm wrong. PLEASE!

You know, deleting posts honestly doesn't get any message across. People need to know when they're doing things they shouldn't be, because otherwise they'll just spam and ignore the deleted posts.

If it doesn't get any message across, then you should ban them... See your thread about spam rules: it didn't pass a week and it was already clogged up with spam!

Not only are some of us younger and less mature but there defenatly should be a reasonable margin for spam. spam is inevidable. you cant stop its creation; but you can supress it. possibly (once again ) some kind of spam box or seperate shouting spam forum. @xtron: you just got a little too silly. try keeping the sillyness in the spam thread or if your being silly with a particular person the PM system is also a good method.
