*appears from the shadows*
Raven, You're talking as if The Great Spam is something like a natural force mankind has not yet learned to control.
See, if you want to say the next best thing that comes to your head, use an instant messager. No need to fill the forums with useless posts; You're just making it more difficult for new members or ones that don't visit as often to follow the relevant posts.
I'll agree that you younger ones are hard to be kept under control, but you should still be able to see where the fine line between some in-thread joking and outright spamming for the sake of it lies. ("Beware... the Dark Side of the Spam...") If you don't, this is where the moderators enter the game. If they (she, as Nerath seems to be the only active one right now) tells you in a thread that you're going too far, listen, and just stop. Don't post unless you actually have something to say. Don't take it to the next-best thread, either. Stop.
Going off-topic is fine, but these off-topic posts should still be worth reading (for humoristic reasons or otherwise).
Good evening. *returns to lurk-mode*

Well-said, Riesstiu, and I agree. The major problem is that forums are not instant messenger programs, and not all responses need to be recorded. And Josip, you can see I took your advice earlier. *nods* I believe that it is a very effective way of punishment. Speak softly and carry a big stick. Since I can't go around deleting every single spam post, I will resort to suspension and ban if warning doesn't work.
Guys, "it's cool" "yes it is" "no it isn't" and the like are SPAM. One-liners are generally spam. They're pointless. The world doesn't need to know that you agree with something unless you have something to contribute to the discussion, and you can post how cool something is only if you say something that contributes. These really don't contribute much, especially in mass amounts. Same goes for "What?" and "Huh?" and such things.
Raven -- outright telling Josip to shut up is definitely not appropriate. He has a right to his opinion without anyone telling him not to say it. There will be none of that in these forums. If you guys want to duke it out, you'll either do it civilly or you'll do it through PM's or instant messaging.
Sorry if the post offended you, Josip. Though "zip it" isn't offensive in today's language, I still think it was rude. And I think your advice isn't out of the question, for sure.
Spam is not inevitable. I once went to a forum where the mods locked every thread that they believed had served its purpose. When any person posted a message of one sentence or less, that person was warned that one more time would result in consequences for spamming. Now, I'm nothing compared to that, you see. But that forum had no spam.
Raven, by younger, you must mean teenagers, as I don't think there is anyone under 13 here. And I'll say that teenage immaturity really isn't an excuse.
How old do you think I am? Answer me honestly. And ah, just for the sake of seeing what people think, if anyone else wants to take a guess, go for it.

How old do you think I am? Answer me honestly. 16 or 17, and blah blah blah, cant we just stop w/ the spam combat thing ?? just damn its getting so annoying it is becoming a jihad !!!! post deletion really sucks if u know what i mean, lets just keep our loose police like we where in the old times... we are human and i believe this would be far more enjoyable if we kept this small community based in friendship btw if someone leaves becuz he thinks this forum is a waste of time, he must be sum kind of stupid nerd who doesnt have a real life and to finish up, when u said that this isnt a paperstarships forum anymore, check whats written above: "General Board" and Riesstiu, dont go on lurking again, this forum really needs u...

No. No, we can't stop spam combat. And we are based in friendship, but this is a forum, and there have to be rules. Bottom line. What you want is no rules, and that's not going to happen. If you're complaining about a little restriction, perhaps you should rethink what you're calling other people. Darmat was actually one of the early members, and he was a good, active member at that. Resorting to petty name calling is immature.

Don't worry, Glove, I'm too bored to be away for long. When I have something worthwhile to say, I will always leave my all-concealing shadows and post.
And please, let's not turn the whole thing into a "Must-kill-spam!!!" vs. "Must-defy-authority!!!" - thing. Those never end well.

There's a good point. So, for the sake of ending that before it begins, I'm just locking the thread.
