Hello friends! I am new in this forum in spite of the to accompany and to learn with him there is plenty of time...I am Brazilian and in my country this hobby is little spread, what doesn't impede that you has enthusiasts... I accompany with plenty interest the models developed by the collaborators of this site, although you doesn't have any building ship of the game Homeworld Eventually I develop my own models, as you is the case of Hornet starting from a file in 3D Studio, where I accomplished the scratchbuilding of the landing gear, cockpit, and of the flight deck... Bearcat was my first model developed with the software Pepakura Designer...Your file 3D and of Hornet I downloaded from wcmdf.solsector.net/index.htm The scale of both for a space subject is 1/144 although I have the project of accomplishing a hornet in the scale 1/32... I like a lot of modeling ships of <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=24&k=video%20games" onmouseover="window.status='video games'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">video games</a> of other platforms that are not PC, as video games and old computers, in this case in the absence of files and meshes 3D produce them the old fashion through paterns and painted the hand with acrylic paint and pen Indian ink (in portuguese "nanquim" ink). This is the case of the three pictures below, two are of the ship Warp Rattler of the old arcade game of the half of the 80's Gradius / Nemesis. The third picture is of the ship Solvalou of the game Xevious 1983, a lot of comun in that time in Brazil. This model in matter was just painted with Indian ink and color pens , both are in scale 1/144. This Wing was drawn in the scale 1/72 starting from files 3d extracted of the PC Game X Wing Alliance, he has complete interior besides landing gear... Two downloaded ships of the site paperstarships and i building: the Corelian CR 90 Corvette and USS Essex (I like Diego Cortes models a lot, mainly the one of TV Babylon V...) The other models of the pictures that you comes now me downloaded of several sources in the internet... My time of assembly depends on the degree of complexity of the project, but in general I am long more or less two weeks to one month to complete a model unless he is very well resolved in terms of assembly engineering, in general I use a paper called "sulfite" inBrazil, that you is equal to the paper card of used 0,80g in the USA the only difference is that this paper is has a thickness from 90 to 240g I use 120 and 180g a lot... Well it would be that, you would like to read critics and comments feel very isolated in my city in relation to that hobby (although I am plastic modeller also and here clubs and very strong associations exist) No matter how incredible you seems although I live in a city with more than a million and half of people don't know almost anybody with that can change ideas... Good, you would be that, excuse me the poor english and the long postage... Best regards from the Brazil! ;D Péricles

That is a seriously impressive lineup. That ship the width of a CD? Awesome! I don't see a speck of white paper visible. And wait, you don't even print them in color? You color them with Indian ink? We use that for art here, but I have no ability with it...that's quite amazing that you can paint a model with it. Cheers to you for being able to do so. Ah, but I'm ahead of myself. Welcome to the forums, and stick around!

To everbody else: Ignore this post. Consider it ignored. -but remember Spanish is similar to your language, so I can understand what you're saying- ;D
The models you show us are amazing, gomidefilho! Extremely well folded. I envy your skills. I am really curious about some models in particular and the sources you got them from: mainly the millenim falcon -these textures are GREAT- the sith infiltrator -Darth Maul's ship, I had never seen a paper model of it before- and the last ship, the klingon Bird of Prey from Star Trek I am also looking at the battlestar galactica viper, and I find something strange with it... Maybe it is because I have only watched the new series and it was a previous design... maybe it is becouse I saw the series too long ago :-P I did not know all these games you mention -I have never been a fan of arcades and started my gamming career with a NES. In addition, I never owned a computer of the DOS generation- And you say you like Diego's Babylon 5 models? I'd like to see one done with your outstanding skills. In fact, I miss someone else to build an starfury -customized if possible- as only Diego and me have shown his starfuries to the community. And as you seem to like very detailed models, have you tried to build the ULTRADETAILED Lambda shuttle in paperstarships? So please, I'd like you to tell us more about your models!

Nerath! Thank you for the incentive words and for the welcome... Answering your subjects, the ship in CD is the fighter Wapr Rattler of the old video game Gradius, you get information on him in: www.gamestone.co.uk/gradius/index.phpor www.geocities.com/Shion_kun/In relation to painting the model was painted in your totality with acrylic paint Acrilex (http://www.acrilex.com.br) a product very cheaply and specifically developed for use in artistic works and handcraft...The absence of white lines is because of the use of different types of brushes that they covered again totality of the model... The Indian ink is used to do the panel lines... The model was stamped with a layer of protecting acrylic varnish opaque/matt Corfix (I make that in all my models)... www.corfix.com.brMy digital models in general I print in my domestic printer (Epson C65) in maximum resolution, I eventually use a HP 1310 in my work... These pictures are of the beginning of the process of assembly of Warp Rattler I wait that you has explained, any doubts am the disposition... Again thank you very much...

Cherel! Thank you very much for the praises, really I read very well in Spanish, the state that I live at my country is very close of Argentina, of Uruguay and of Paraguay then I have many friends in them that I belong together... Talking about the models will make a list of the sites where you can find for download the models that you wondered: Millenium Falcon: www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~sf-papercraft (Go in the link special) This model was drawn by Sunichi Makino an extremely skilled Japanese designer, that you has fantastic models of the films Star Wars and Star Trek, and other Reliant, shown in my first topic was projected also by him... Silth Infiltrator I got reading the topic Ships Request in this forum, regarding ships of Star Wars specifically you remains to Wing, this you downloaded of: www.starwars.pl/pokaz.php?id=3292This model was extracted of the PC video game X Wing Alliance and your format is in PDO, you has other very interesting models in this Polish site... In relation to Scarlet Viper, really he is not an official product of the original series of 78 or of new Galactic Battlestar exhibited in the channel Sci Fi. He is a drawing done by a fan for one of Richard Hatch book on the another histories of Galactica (The author was it Apollo in the series of 78), you was a Fighter for heavy attack... The model was projected by Aaron Murphy and you can be found in the site: www.lhvcc.com/egiftshop/He has other fantastic pieces of the series as the fighter Viper of the original series and Cylon Raider (that finished today and I intend to post the pictures in a little while)... I still intend to do Viper Mark II and VII of the new series, they are in the list of projects... The Klingon's Bird of Prey was projected by my compatriot and of The Glove, Alberto Alonso, is an extracted model of one of many MODs of the video game Homeworld, you is an extremely small and delicate model, I used paper 90g... He can be downloaded of www.geocities.com/billysworld22/stmodels.htmlIn this site that is maintained by one of the participants of this forum (Missouri1981) they exist many nice models of Star Trek, as the klingon cruiser D7 and the ship Species 4872... The old video games are a good inspiration source, now work in bomber Athena that I extracted of the game Freespace 1995, but in general I build those models the old fashion, since I just know the basic of modelling 3D in the metasequoia and in 3D Studio... In relation to the models of Diego, I have the intention of building Starfury in the esca 1/144 and a more detailed model with interior and other details in the scale 1/32... I like a lot of detailing and I already printed Shuttle Lambda projected by Deimos, any hour I set up, you is really an impressive piece... Thank you very much for the words of incentive and the orders for any subject... Thank You! Obrigado! Gracias! Péricles

Hello friend and welcome aboard,
is there a chance to send me the file for the Hornet? I also work in 1/144 and smaller and found your model excellent.
By the way, are you aware of a site that covers paper airplanes of the Brazilian Air force?

Hello! Without problems, the file of Hornet is here: br.groups.yahoo.com/group/modelismodepapel/files/hornet.zipThis model is very simple and without manipulation, I just took advantage the wings, the rudders, the fuselage and some smaller pieces. This model I did when you still didn't know Pepakura very well... In the zip file you will find PDO, the texture, the file in 3DS and COB, I put them for an eventual manipulation... This site that is Hornet, that is of a group of paper Brazilian designers, you has been accommodating in the area of files other models mine of the series Wing Commander as the fighter Bearcat and the ship AEW, SWACS, are all very simple models... I am posting new pictures of Hornet for you to see, as I don't know how to participate in right with the escals in Pepakura, I printed the model how you was determined the scale that was "bastard" and scale up for 1/144, programs exist in the internet to calculate scale, in the site Starship Modeller he has a very useful one: www.starshipmodeler.com/Here they are one more pictures for you to give a glance, the canopy was done with a sheet of plastic of clear PVC and thermaform starting from an epoxy master... You get information on the "real" dimensions of the fighter in this site: www.wcnews.com/ships.shtmlAny explanation the more is only to write... Bye, and thank you! P.S. The nose art is in honor to my girlfriend that finished the courtship from seeing me to play Wing Commander and not to give attention for her hehehehe! ;D Ah! That I know a site that specifically treats on models of paper of airplanes exists just operated by FAB... The page belongs to Carlos Alberto Liberato, and the models are excellent although you has very few (Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Santos Dumont Demoiselle, Aerotec T-23 Uirapuru, Focke Wulf FW-58, Embraer T-27 Tucano and Vultee V11GB known as "Vultizão") This designer is official of FAB - Força Aérea Brasileira (Brazilian Air Force) and him building your models with free softwares in your majority... The address is: liberatocr.sites.uol.com.br/Ok!

Hehehe! You is true but FAB doesn't just have old iron and French scrap for coming still has a lot of American and Italian garbage condemned with structural fatigue...
Maybe it is for that that Liberato only makes models of old airplanes that they operated in FAB and with piston engine and propen drives... ;D
Sorry for the off topic...

Don't worry... as far as it does not go TOO offtopic, this forum is used to some topic driffting. As far as it is related whith the original topic, I don't think this thread will be locked. Anyway, it is good to bring this topic back on topic, as there is much to discuss.
This cylon raider looks very cool! but I think models could look somehow cooler if the hull had a texture attached other than the hull lines. I mean, I don't see totally white ships as very realistic models.

Cherel! In relation to the topics without problems, I don't like of speaking of the obsolete of FAB... ;D I liked Cylon Raider a lot is a very big model and full of details, the most nice is that the shape of the wings is obtained by supports and structures that later are laminated, a technique that use a lot in my no digital models... The white color in models SF is an old discussion, I am not also a lot of fan of the white, use when necessary... The interesting is that the old films of SF Star Wars, Galactica and etc. they used models of several sizes and some of those were for light effects painted of white or in diferent gray graduations... As paper models in general are small, the ideal is to have a coloration in neutral gray or light ghost gray, you is the case of the cylon raider.... The gray is of big helps to give depth and realism to the model when you is the case... Cheers! Péricles
