Hi there, fellow paper modelers!
After some time of watching, building and studying the paper models readily available, i finally started creating some models on my own. I've done some models now (Khar Toba wreck, Kushan Missile destroyer, Hammerhead Wreck and the Junk Yard headquarters), mainly HW1 models, as they tend to be easier. But I wanted to try a model that wasn't available yet. Inspired by the Vaygr Missile corvette (and Battlecruiser too) model created by Conand81, I chose to try and do my best on the Command corvette and Minelayer corvette. I've completed them both, with details (+ mine!) added, and alternative colors as well: vaygr, hiigaran and makaan. At the moment i am doing a beta-build of the minelayer corvette to see if there are any hick-up's that will have to be changed. I've layed the Command corvette to rest for the moment as I've noticed that Yessmaster already hosts a version of it at his site!
I'll try and post some pictures soon!
As I'm a complete newbee on stuff like forum threading, picture posting, or file sharing, you'll have to bare with me as I'm struggling with my first steps on this.

I started with cutting out and folding the main hull part: The other parts (see top right of picture) would soon follow, but first a close up of the main hull: As you might notice, i prefer to keep big flat surfaces uncut, and try to use mainly 'mountain folds' for cuts or seams. (which i find easier to glue)

Today I finnished cutting and folding all main parts. (and found some flaws as well) Below you see all the parts, with the vaygr mine in the top right corner (:pesky little bugger!) and the detail parts besides my cutting mat. *phew, thats done!* Here's a close up of the minelaying section of the corvette: This section is still up to debate, wether or not I've done a clever unfold/parts break up... Next up: some more close ups on the parts: The main hull and engine parts (looks familiar?) The front and bridge (:needs to be changed) parts The minelayer parts (top, bottom, and mine jettison port) Yes, I know, the colors are a bit off, but thats because I've used an old cardridge (:worn & low on yellow ink), to preserve ink for the final build! (this is a Beta build remember? ) Well folks; that's it for now! (I promised my girlfriend to fix the dryer this evening, too) If all goes well, I'll start building this week, correcting flaws along the way. 'See ya when I see ya!'

Hey, Auris & Yessmasster, thanks for your interest! About that Junkyard HQ.... It was one of my first attempts at developing a HW model, and proved to be quite daunting: - It has some debris as loose parts. - Intersecting faces which needed carefull cutting to make parts fit. - Some faces at the rear (broken up) part needed to be double sided (textures) for better appearance. Apart from some flaws of my own due to my inexperience with Metasequoia (a bulkhead split into multiple triangular faces, I fixed with an Autocad created bulkhead) the unfolds of the interiors were impractical because of unconnected faces in the model. But what the heck, for old times sake, lets see if I can dig it up... Here's some pics I just made: I'm sorry, but the paper model ended up in the bin a while ago, as I was planning to start on an improved version somewhere in the future at that time. I'll see if I can dig up those files, and send them to you both!

Yessmasster, I've mailed you the files (+Hammerhead Wreck as well ;D) Auris, The original files of the Junkyard HQ can be found in the: Sierra/Homeworld/traders/junkyardhq/lod0 folder. But I haven't got your mailing adress, and don't know how to add files to a PM, if possible at all. (newbee, eh?)

With the cutting and folding all done (apart from the mine & detail parts) and a little side step (see above) I started on building the model this evening. Here is the main hull under construction: As you can see in the first two pics, I left the front and rear top faces open in order to reach glue tabs otherwise out of reach. The third pic shows a little experiment of mine: glue-ing the hidden faces inside! I'm trying this out to see if I can avoid 'stacking' of multiple paper faces between modules and create less obvious seams on the finnished model. (Note: it's a fiddly and tricky job! ) Next up: the front of the hull The small seperate part is an inset that fits inside the narrow section of the front (bottom) section. I've had some fitting issues on some models with multiple interconnected faces with succesive mountain/valley folds (are you getting this?) like this part... they're always to short at the end! So, by separating I'm trying to prevent this. The last two pics show the finnished front attached to the hull. Must remember to reinforce the final build, as Auris advises, I printed these on plain paper (cheap Beta build) and it has been dented several times already. Well... *yawns* it's already way past bed time for me ,so that's all for now!

Auris & Yessmasster: both pdo's have been mailed. (sorry for the mishap in spelling your mail adress yessmas(-s)ter!) Hopefully they'll arrive this time.
As I'm on sick leave from work (I'll spare you the details) today, I took this oppertunity to try and continue building the lower hull and bridge parts. (With no support added, those small parts are quite delicate!) They will need some correcting for ease of assembly which I'll show later.

Today I've made some good progress. I knew the bridge section had some flaws, and these have been corrected: (although I'm still doubting it's a clever one ) As you can see, I've added parts ID as well (inspired by Conand & Enterprise-E) by now, they will be added throughout the whole unfold when I'm finished. Here are some pics of my progress so far: The bridge section I've build today still was the unfixed version, and it was horrible! Whatever I tried, I couldn't get it flattened out for a snug fit onto the lower hull: On the other hand, the upper part of the minelayer section went together pretty smooth ;D. The only tricky bit was connecting the front part (grey&red) onto the larger rear part (red) as I omitted the (optional) bulkheads. Attaching this assembly onto the main hull proved a bit tricky too. In order to conseal the white faces I added to the main hull you'd have to line up those parts properly! But with no bulkhead attached onto the bottom yet, I had easy access to adjust these parts. Well, so far so good. For tomorrow, lets see if I can continue with the engine section I already started, and start building the lower part of the minelayer.
