Another day, another chapter... The minelayer is coming together pretty nice right now: (looks like it is about to give berth or something, doesn't it?) I've added the 'back face' (or bulkhead as I call it) to bottom of the minelayer section I finished yesterday. This helped a lot in fitting both upper and lower part onto each other! Again it was glued to the inside of the glue tabs, which was easily accessible from the large rear opening. (sorry; didn't take any pics of that) Unfortunately, as it did strengthen it, it also gave it an odd 'twist' at the rear! (bad alignment, I guess) I corrected that by adding a cardboard piece to the rear: As you can see, I finished the lower part of the minelayer as well; again an easy build ;D! (5 to 10 minutes and you're done) This time I did strengthened it with cardboard pieces as it is the best part to hold the model on to! (and it helped to attach it too) Adding this section to the model made it show almost twice as big as it was before ! Next the 'mine jettison port' was done; a bit tricky, but doable: Here it is: the Vaygr Minelayer Corvette so far: As for the engine section.... It's history . When I tried to attach the exhausts (burners) to the lower part some tabs were torn as I was gluing others on. I've shredded it in anger, and will have to redesign a proper unfold that works for me. (and others too, I hope) So tomorrow I'm back to the 'drawing board', let's see what I'll come up with.... *Hmm, somethings brewing already...*See y'all next time!

I'm back! And with some good news; there's something standing on my desk right now, staring back at me, and it's looking pretty good! But before I come to that, lets head on back in time: I told you, this unfold didn't work for me. Something had to give, and it wasn't me! So, I went on and tried some other unfolds: To the left; my first correction. To the right you see my second atttempt, which I started as an back-up option, but ended up being build: Building it wasn't a breeze , but with some patience it's buildable; the best solution I could come up with. I've added some extra paper and cardboard pieces to it, to maintain a correct shape. Otherwise it would be a pain to attach it onto the minelayer! Off course I had to try it on for sizers, and did some 'dry fitting' before glueing it onto the hull. (:ALWAYS 'dry fit' parts before they're finally glued!) As you can see, it's no perfect fit, but acceptable to me, considering the complexity of the engine section! For the final version I'm going to add that red part (:rear of the hull) to the engine section, which should simplify construction. (I think ) Here it is, so far; my completed minelayer (beta-build): What is left for me to do, is to test-build the mine, with casings, and re-design the engine section in Metasequoia..... GREAT! This means I'll have to unfold it completely... Again! (Just what I was waiting for)After that, I plan on building it (again) for a final build, with mine (oh no, not again?) off course. Then I'd like to head on, to redo my Command Corvette (no Beta-build, it's almost flawless! ), Missile Corvette (private model; I grant publication to Conand!) and the LaserCorvette (to which I want to add the recesses, in which to fit those laserpods!) *so much to do, so little time*

Just to tease you all; I could start progressing on these too. All three frigates (Assault, HeavyMissile and Infiltrator) 'just' need to have they're textures overhauled, get 'modulated' and have some details (missiles & pods) to be added, before unfolding can commence... What do you think? Shall I start after finishing the minelayer, or put them to rest and finish up on the corvettes?

[glow=red,2,300]It's done! ;D[/glow] Finished I mean! (well as far as I can figure)This evening I've finally completed revising the minelayer. - The engine section is redone in Metasequoia. - The textures have been updated the best I could. (Reffering to Fructose's tutorial on creating HW2 models: for Makaan - or Soban, or any black color/stripe- colors just paste the 'Alpha' view channel to a new layer. Set it to 'overlay' and leave it that way! And, *Whoa* cool looking, faded black colors! -they look better then when you've changed it to -or filled it with- black as I found out.) - Alternate colors are included with the *.pdo file, as well as blank (read: Vaygr colors) *.psd files to create your own preffered colors! - Glue flap sizes have been changed to smaller size on small parts. - Parts ID and description added on all 2D paterns/sheets. Well folks, this is what it (v1) looks like: The final version (v2) has been slightly changed (a few flaws fixed). I'll be sending the zipped files to both Auris & Yessmasster. Be assured it won't take long for this 'vette to be available for download! Thank you all for your support, and interest, See y'all soon!

Err.. yeah, I haven't done a testbuild on the mine & casings yet... (It's daunting; so many small faces!! ) But when I have, I'll post you my findings! - I promise!
