Hello all, New here but not to modeling, new to making own card models tho` and, as I say, I use Lightwave v8.0 and just purchased Paperkura, BUT, I find that on Developement, it seems to screw up the model sections, and, the textures seem that they find it hard to locate to the given areas of the model you have textured!!!. I am not new to Lightwave, been with this software from ver 5.0 on wards, BUT!!, am finding it a pain trying to get model sections and textures to work happy within Paperkura, even tho it says it can cope with .lwo and relevant textures; any and ALL HELP gratefully required and accepted, latest model is HMS Erebus/Terror 1915 to 1946, Monitor with 15" main gun!!!!........ Many grateful thanks and regards to all for all and any help in this matter................cheers all!!!!!!! Tom....... ;D

Ah...can't help you with Lightwave, there. But I do know about Pepakura. What exactly is the problem? Are the textures not showing up? Is the model distorted?
First off, what steps are you going through? Do you use Metasequoia before Pepakura? How do you make your models? Knowing that will help me figure out what the issue is.

Follow the tutorial at Fruc's site and try using that programs, easy as hell, even a monkey on a flameproof suit could follow them.

Nerath, Thank you for the nice reply, YES!! the edges are distorted as well as some of the modeled parts; and as for textureing, the texture never seems to go to ALL areas of said model; no, I have not used Metasequoia, reason being that to read the info re:- Paperkura, you can input .lwo textures as well direct no need to use any thing else!!!............
Am as I do this reply to you D/L Metasequoia, the free version and hope this is going to work, also using FreePDF with Ghostscript to make model section for uses proper..
Regards.........................Tom.....

convert it using deep explorer or sth like that to another format, maybe pepakura will do the job.
have fun in making models.

Try Metasequoia first, even if you don't need to use it, because it can give you a preview of how the textures should look. If you have to, convert the textures -- maybe Pepakura just likes the .bmp format better.
If some of your model is white (missing texture) for no good reason...you have one of two problems. A) you haven't placed all the textures on the model; perhap you missed one, or B) your model is just odd. For a couple of models I've tried to make, I just can't get all the textures to appear, no matter what I do. I haven't figured it out.
Maybe someone else here knows? Anyone?

It seems that pepakura messes up lightwave's UV's. Exporting to .obj worked fine for me (i use LW v7.5) - even material names were the same in pepakura as in lightwave, so reassigning textures shouldn't be a problem. If not only textures are broken, but geometry is messed up too, try to reduce polygon count of your model, for example by dividing it into two parts.
[edit] Okay, i think i found the cause of this problem: having more than one uv map sets (even if only one is used by materials) in lightwave causes pepakura to read these coordinates wrong (or it uses the first set on the list). Exporting to .obj keeps only one UV set currently used by materials and removes the unused ones, which would explain why it works. Deleting unnecessary UV sets in lightwave by hand solved the problem for me, i just had to reverse texture V coordinate in pepakura (in "3D model window/Reverse coordinate values" menu).
Let us know if it solves Your problems [/edit]
