Anyone here speak Italian, whether as a first or second language? If you do, would you be willing to translate an Italian song for me? It's from a TV show that tends to have songs in a lot of different languages (English, Japanese, Russian, and Italian, so far), and it would rock if someone could tell me what it means in English.
And I don't use online translators like BabelFish because they only give ultra-literal translations, which aren't always the way the words are supposed to be translated.

Sorry, no bananas. It's not a conventional TV show song. It's an anime series -- Ghost in the Shell -- and I'm dubious of a couple of translations I've seen, because they don't make as much sense as it seems the song should. Besides, it would be interesting to have someone here translate it -- who knows how the people online did it. They could have used BabelFish. *shrug*
If not, that's okay -- I'll do some more digging. I just wondered.

Here's the song, then. I'll just post it here for anyone to take a whack at it. Sorry if I misspell something; the text in this lyrics book is orange on silver (ouch) and is incredibly hard to read.
Someone told me it was Italian, anyway. I didn't know the Italians used so many apostrophes.
"I Can't Be Cool" (the only English lines of the song, which I left out)
This isn't the entire song, but the rest is just a repeat of what's here. Also, if anyone knows what "mondo sommerso" means (I think it's something "world"), it appears randomly in the song.

<http://members.shaw.ca/ykdb/discography/lyrics/i_cant_be_cool.html> that's not only the full lyrics, but someone went through to make a 'smart' translation, too.
&'mondo sommerso' - you were right with 'world'; its something like "submerged world" - seems to go along with the theme of the song

...*scratches head* I dunno why I didn't find that. Guess sometimes the Internet likes to sit around and taunt me with stuff. *sigh*
