Hi! First post and of course it is a request. I assume a lot of you have tried tabletop gaming, has anyone here played Full Thrust? I love it except finding good models to game with is impossible. I don't want to spend $300 on gothika ships that look terrible to me.
On to the request! Are there any decent (I am not looking for super detail) smaller starship models that would be no larger than 6" preferably for tabletop gaming out there? Hopefully something along the Homeworld lines because those are beautiful.
Thank you all.

If you are using Pepakura to view/edit your models, you can adjust the scales without much difficulty. Almost all the models used around here are in it's .pdo format, and Pepakura lets you scale to specific assembled heights and ratios. This should let you change just about anything to a 6in/15.24cm length, from interceptors to Sajuuk. Just keep in mind that some of the larger models might be harder to cut out and assemble at that scale.

I'm a battletech player myself. Was briefly into Space Battleship Yamato. I haven't really found a good space gaming system with attractive models to my tastes however.

I have tried the Pepakura route actually but only the most basic of models will work when rescaled. Even then you have to sacrifice some of the looks and folding becomes impossible. Essentially I was wondering if there was a way to "dumb down" some models or simplify them. I love the Vaygr vessels so you can imagine how poorly scaling those down is working.
All I really need are basic shaped models. They don't have to have a lot of shape to them but having the look of it printed on would be awesome. Links to something like that even would be appreciated.
Thanks again everyone on this board! You guys rock!

Actually, it's not out of the question, but precision is key as far as my mind has taken me. That's one of the things I want to try to develop with someone is a tabletop starships game. as soon as I get myself back on track and am able to make the physical models again, I'll see about posting a tutorial, but I'm afraid it may not happen for a wile.

I got the idea over the weekend to try interlocking models like you see in some tabletop naval games. Not quite as detailed as we'd like, but even Vaygr ships could be built pretty easily this way. About the only tricky thing I see in this method would be getting views from the exact top, bottom, and side of the model.

If the design is anything like the models used in warhammer, then it shouldn't be much of a problem... unless you're refering to shading. surface texture might be a problem too, but the most I would be worrying about is trying to make the modules of the ship into molds for plastic modules.
oh yes, no one has built any of the ships that I designed... I think I should re make my turranic carrier! =^_^=

My best recomendation is to go to shipyards.relicnews.com/ and look at the following for ships you might want to use in the tabletop gaming. I myself had the same idea before I decided to come ack to PS. Fighter class- Vaygr fighters/corvettes Corvette class- Kushan corvettes Frigate class- Vaygr frigtes/taiidani frigates Capital ships- Kushan/Tiidani capitals, Vaygr Destroyer Carrier- Kushan Carrier/ Turanic Raider carrier Mothership- Vaygr flagship/Taiidani mothership/Bentusi tradeship/ Kadeshi Needleship Those are all ships that are easily modulated to a point where they will have a very low number of polygons for when they are built. From there, you can scale up or down the size of the model in pepakura, and in the bottom right corner of the screen, it shows the approximate dimentions of the whole model. In this image, the blue highlighted menu option is what may help you rescale the model more accuratly to your liking. The scale of the model in the picture is: L-6.4 W-4.6 H5.4 If you have any requests for a model of any particular color and dimension, just drop me a PM. PS is my home page so I'll most likly see it within 3-4 hours of when I get a message.
