Hi, I'm mew to paper modeling, and I'm in need of advice As my 1st model i have picked something easy - Taiidan probe!! It may now be impressive, but i thought it'd be perfect for beginners. I have assembled almost everything, and now the probe is in 2 parts: main body and engine section. I'm trying to glue flaps to the inner side of main body, but eventually there will be no way i will be able to hold the flap so that it sticks to the surface. I realized that it must be the problem in more models than this one, because all flaps are on the inside and no flap should be on the outside of the ship. How do i glue the last flaps? Is it common problem or is it just my poor planning?

Hey welcome. As to your problem, I found the best way was to leave a flap open on the main (striped body part) this gives access to the interior and then you just have to glue the flap down. This means gluing the end parts together first and wrapping the body section round them gluing as you go. It's a good idea, wherever possible to work this way, IE leave a flap open, makes life a LOT easier. To finish what you have now, try gluing one flap at a time lining them up as best you can to the ouside profile then glue the last internal glue flap, (you can squish the model slightly to allow a toothpick to go in), and use the blade of your scalpel/ knife to ease it into place. Hope that helps man

so poor planning then? oh well
i decidedmto glue every odd flap, and leave half of them unglued. after glueing one flap i wait until glue dries, after it's completed i'll try glueing remaining flaps, but model should look decent even without it,
thank you
PS i'll write if i managed to make it when it's done

I have finished. The back part isn't connected strongly to the rest. But if i do not move if from the shelf it should keep the integrity.
Too bad i don't have digital camera or i'd show you a picture

Hey, give it a try! That's what its all about, going oh B*****r when it doesn't work and YEEAAAHHH when it does right? It's only paper, easily re-printed. Good luck man. Check your PS's ok? (Personal Messages)

Hey it's done right? That's what matters. Have you been doing paper models long? Do you need any other Homeworld models?

another method i use, when i havent left an 'escape flap' to reach through is sneaking a paperclip through the edge between two flaps, and using it to press against the inside (by pulling)... i'll try a rough diagram here
\____/\_____/ <- flaps
\______/L\_____/ the 'L' is a paperclip bent at a right angle; sneak it through the tiny space along an edge and tweak until content
