I made this thread because I just realized that new members sometimes don't know things that perhaps they should know here.
We welcome new members, most definitely, and we tend to tolerate more rule-bending than bigger fora. Yet, as we keep expanding, we'll need to tighten our judgments after a while, I assume. That'll be a while, as we're slow to expand.
Basic rules:
1. Spam is bad. Spamming is going into threads and posting completely random things, just for the sake of posting. This is useless and throws everyone off-track, as well as annoys everyone else and especially me, as I'm the mod and the admins are usually gone.
(You've noticed that we tolerate some spam, but generally, if the public complains, someone will lock it. Sometimes people can spam and be somewhat useful; there's a thin line between bad and okay spam. I'd recommend just not spamming.)
2. Don't bump old posts. Glove has dubbed it "necroposting." Unless you have something interesting and/or valuable to contribute, please don't post in threads that are from 4-5 months ago at least.
3. No flaming. Flaming is outright insulting another person or his/her work, using racist comments or the like, or generally being nasty. Don't do it. It's stupid, annoying, and will get you banned.
4. Though there is no rule against cursing, try not to flood your posts with it. Doing so is generally associated with flaming, and some people just don't like to read it. There are censors here, but cursing is allowed; just control yourself.
5. No warez. Warez is the downloading/uploading/sharing of illegal programs, serial numbers, passwords, and the like. Mentioning warez will get you a warning (the first time or so, maybe more if your record is spotless). Publicly giving out passwords will result in a suspension, perhaps a ban. That includes sharing Pepakura with the people who can't buy it -- sorry guys, save up money for it if you want it that bad.
Can't think of any more right now; if other rules come to my attention, I'll edit this and put them up.
Welcome to the PaperStarships forum, and I'm not as much of a rule nazi as it may seem. Work with me on the five points here.
