hey, a problem im having... when i try to extract that archy in high LOD the pak tool crashes. i can extract a medium lod no problem. ( the pics above are a "medium" lod extraction) theres so much that i just do not know. im just getting into this, and am kinda lost here. is there a better pak tool than what i have? i cannot seem to locate one using Google. heres a pic or 2 crashes like this: i have asked for help in my community, i dont know what you guys have access to. this may be the only tool in existance that works for tachyon .pak files... any help is appreciated. thanks. edit: fix my miskeyed typing...lol

Glad to see you back Slippster.
I agree with Glove. I'm not sure what is happening on that screen with the error message.
The texturised mesh of the Archangel doesn't seem to have imported the full detail from the separate mesh files.
Not even sure what a .pcs file is!
In theory you should be able to sve the mesh as a .cob file and at the same time save the associated meshes as bmps.
Then you open the .cob in the Metasequoia programe and simlify the mesh for contructin. Save again as a .msq file and open that in pepakura which you use to unfold the model......
Gonna have to have a look at this in more detail.
Plus gonna have to get a full version of Deep Exploration....
Hey Guys. That version of Deep Exploration looks differeent to my expired demo version. Have they upgraded it?

ok im noticing there is a separate pak file for the windshield. alphabetically its next to the same ship file. example: pegasus.pak ( archangel ship files) pegasgls.pak ( archangel glass?) also is another file called pgshdw.pak which displays a black block i guessing its no use for this purpose of creating a model. also useless to this forums purpose is another file called pagas_vc.pak which is the "virtual cockpit" im guessing. when i zoom inside of it, it resemples what i see when flying the archy if i have not tapped the F1 key yet to turn off the cockpit window view. ...yes my posts are long... so shoot me my copy of Deep is now "registered". heh. ;D

_____________________________________________ i think you mean .pcx its a graphics format like .jpg photoshop recognizes it. whats a .cob file? ____________________________________________ i am in the process of creating a pakage of "opened" pak files of the 10 default ships; Galspan and Bora. when i am finished, hopefully you will be able to download all a zip of the files necessary to make your models, i am saving you alot of searching thru the pff and opening of the pak files. no need for all of us to duplicate the work, now is there? while i am opening and looking at these i am noticing alot of missing details on the ships. in a minute i will return to this post and show screenshots of, for example, a claymore while ingame, and what the claymore looks like in Deep Ex. alot of detail is missing from the Deep Ex views. i dont know why this is, maybe there are detail files i have not located yet. some of the ships in the game such as captial ships are broken down into "blocks" that is, you will not see a complete capital ship in 1 view. i am still exploring the pak files... this takes quite a long time. stay tuned.

ok heres a set of pics relating to the missing details of the Claymore. am i not using Deep correctly? groups.msn.com/GamingPix2/claymorestudy.msnwheres 2 pics that are example; from ingame: and Deep views it like this: i am a perfectionist and a sticker for accuracy. am i doing something wrong or is deep not displaying the images corretly? or is tach screwy and puts the details files in another location? im perplexed.

a .cob is a file format that deep can save and meta can open, in meta u can edit the polys an most important: save .mqo that pepakura can open, where the magic really happens

okie dokie. thanks i havent tried to make a model yet, im still extracting the pak files. heres the zip file i promised. www.gamingpix2.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Tachyon_ships.zip each folder contains 2 folders: "pak files" and "opened paks" self explanatory right? it contains the 10 ships in Base Wars, 7.61 megs Archangel Pegasus Phoenix Orion Poseidon Warhammer Claymore Mace Cutlass Battleaxe thats a good start i think. i have asked in my community if there are other files that contain details that i might have missed.

im not even going to attempt to make a tachyon model until you guys tell me if its even possible, for you are the experts here, in your field.

It looks like textures aren't on their posistions. I have sometimes same problem with deep exploration and downloaded models. you have to open it in 3d edidting program and move them to a correct position.

WELL, i feel really dumb here since i have absolutely no experience with a 3d editing program , and while Deep is interesting, it baffles me.
its nice to finally lay hands on objects ( ships) that i have flown for 4 years though.
what program do you suggest. you mentioned a 3d editing program. im clueless.
would you be kind enough to assist?
i have the drive and determination, just not the knowledge.
( im 41 and i learn fast )
